Chernobyl was Closer

Thanks to my friends at Wolfram Alpha, the information mecca, I learned that the distance from Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine to New York was 4633 miles and the distance from the nuclear plant explosion in Fukushima, Japan to California is 5367 miles.

I wonder if America took iodine pills in 1986 . . .
